Cabinet specialists who understand a Lincoln Park kitchen

Lincoln Park is one of Chicago's most sought-after neighborhoods, a leafy stretch of the North Side wrapped around the lakefront park that gives it its name, home to the zoo, DePaul, and blocks of beautiful homes. Cabinet painting, refacing, and refinishing are what we specialize in, not a service tacked onto general contracting, and that specialty is exactly what a Lincoln Park kitchen calls for. It is a walkable, tree-lined neighborhood that runs from grand historic greystones to sleek new construction, and about half of our work is in condos and city buildings, so a Lincoln Park kitchen is right in our wheelhouse. The homes here carry real character, and the kitchens inside them deserve cabinet work that respects the house rather than fighting it.

The homes in Lincoln Park

Lincoln Park has one of the richest housing mixes in the city. You will find classic greystones, Victorian rowhouses, worker's cottages, and brick two-flats and three-flats from the late 1800s and early 1900s, many restored or converted into gracious single-family homes, alongside a steady wave of new-construction luxury houses and a good stock of condos, townhomes, and lakefront high-rises. Kitchens run the full range, from a compact galley in a vintage flat to a wide, open kitchen in a restored greystone or a brand-new build, and each one calls for its own approach.

Matching the color to the architecture

With this much variety, the cabinetry sets the tone. A painted Shaker in white, off-white, sage, or a soft muted tone suits the greystones, rowhouses, and flats, and keeping a stained island or a run of real wood in the mix nods to the woodwork these older homes are known for. In the new construction and modern condos, a clean Flat Panel fits beautifully. Two-tone works across the board, a painted perimeter with a stained white oak or walnut island for warmth and depth. A designer consultation comes with every sizable project. Together you land on a cabinet color that works with your floors, your trim, your light, and the age of the home.

Older and newer kitchens, and the quirks we plan for

Both ends of Lincoln Park's housing tend to need attention. The vintage homes carry a century of settling, hardware painted over through decades of touch-ups, and layers of old finish, while the condos, high-rises, and newer builds have cabinetry that is now reaching the age where the finish dulls and the style dates. Either way, the boxes are usually solid with good bones, which makes them strong candidates for refinishing, refacing, or a fresh painted finish rather than a full gut. And because so many of these kitchens sit in shared buildings, containment matters: we seal the kitchen off under negative pressure so dust and fumes vent outside rather than drifting into a hallway or a neighbor's unit. All of it gets noted at the first walkthrough, so nothing catches you or your building off guard mid-project.

Working in Lincoln Park's homes and condo buildings

Lincoln Park kitchens sit in everything from single-family greystones to two-flats, condos, and lakefront high-rises, so a project here can call for real coordination, and we handle it as part of the job: certificates of insurance for building management, reserving the freight elevator where there is one, any building or association rules, and protecting lobbies, stairwells, and entryways as we come and go. Lincoln Park is a quick run up the North Side from the Fulton shop, so we are close by and easy to schedule. Expectations get set from the very beginning, and from the first coat to the last, the only job is to meet them and exceed them.

What homeowners say after the reveal

★★★★★

Joe the owner is a pleasure to work with. The quoting process is meticulous and he helped me devise solutions and help me update the condo's look while keeping costs reasonable. Any issues from walkthrough is quickly addressed and Brayan from Joe's crew did a good job painting the various parts of the apartment. Will definitely work with them again and recommend Fulton Revival to anyone looking at painting jobs. Give them a call!

Lincoln Park questions

Frequently asked

Do you restore greystone kitchens in Lincoln Park?
Yes, greystones are right at the heart of what we do in Lincoln Park. The limestone-fronted rowhouses along these streets, most built between the 1890s and the 1920s, have Victorian millwork and original woodwork that deserve a careful hand, so we restore and repaint inset or overlay cabinetry rather than tearing it out. Painted white, cream, or a muted sage with a stained walnut or white oak island is the signature Lincoln Park look, and we finish every piece smooth in our shop.
Our Lincoln Park kitchen still has builder oak from a past remodel. Paint or reface?
Both modernize it well, and we will give you a straight recommendation at the consultation. If the doors are dated but the boxes are solid, refacing swaps in brand-new doors and drawer fronts for a full transformation while keeping your layout. If the doors are in good shape and you mainly want a new color, painting is usually the smarter spend. A lot of pre-restoration greystone kitchens carry 1990s or 2000s raised-panel oak that takes beautifully to a crisp painted Shaker.
We'll be living in our Lincoln Park home during the work. How do you keep it clean?
Carefully, because nearly all of our city work is in occupied homes. We seal the kitchen in a plastic enclosure with a negative-pressure machine vented out a window, so dust, fumes, and smell stay contained and exit the house instead of drifting through it. We finish your doors and drawer fronts at our shop, keep daily clean-up tight, and our own trained crews treat your home with respect. You can stay put or travel while we work.
Do you handle Lincoln Park two-flats, including owner-up, rent-down setups?
Yes. The Chicago two-flat is a Lincoln Park fingerprint, and we work on them often, whether you are consolidating into a single-family layout or keeping an owner's unit up and a rental down. We scope each kitchen to its purpose, a full design update where you live and a clean, durable finish where you rent. Tell us the configuration and we will plan the work around it.
