Cabinet specialists who understand a Ukrainian Village kitchen
Ukrainian Village is one of the city's most intact late-nineteenth and early-twentieth-century streetscapes, built out largely between the 1880s and the 1920s. The worker's cottages went up first, with most of the two- and three-flats following around the turn of the century. Walk any block and you see brick worker's cottages, Chicago-style two- and three-flats, greystones, Italianate homes, ornamented Queen Anne flats, frame cottages, and the occasional high-style single-family house, with only a light scatter of modern infill. It is a neighborhood that has kept its bones.
The character of these homes shapes the cabinetry. Unrehabbed cottages and flats often still have older oak that has fallen out of trend, while many two-flats and condo-converted flats are ready for an update. Both are strong candidates for a painted Shaker or an inset style that sits comfortably with the vintage millwork these homes are known for. Across the board, the boxes tend to be solid, which makes this painting, refacing, and refinishing territory rather than tear-out territory.
When we walk into a Ukrainian Village kitchen, we are matching the cabinetry to a home with real historic character. We have repainted worn face-frame cabinets so they read brand new, brought dated oak back to something warm and intentional, and refaced tired doors into a Shaker, Artesia, or a recessed-panel style like Connecticut that suits a period home. Here the kitchen is part of the architecture, and it deserves a craftsman who treats it that way.

What homeowners say after the reveal
Joe the owner is a pleasure to work with. The quoting process is meticulous and he helped me devise solutions and help me update the condo's look while keeping costs reasonable. Any issues from walkthrough is quickly addressed and Brayan from Joe's crew did a good job painting the various parts of the apartment. Will definitely work with them again and recommend Fulton Revival to anyone looking at painting jobs. Give them a call!
Joe and his team at Fulton Revivals were excellent and we are extremely pleased with the interior paint work done throughout our condo. They were professional and timely - communicating to us throughout the project. Joe had the team out quickly after project completion to address minor touch-ups post walk-through. Highly recommend and will utilize Fulton Revivals services for future work.
We recently had our kitchen cabinets refinished by Fulton Revivals. Working with Joe and Krystal was amazing and we couldn’t be happier with the results! They were professional, reliable, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Our cabinets look absolutely beautiful — it’s like we have a brand new kitchen! Their attention to detail and pride in their work truly show. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality craftsmanship and outstanding service.

Ukrainian Village questions
Frequently asked
- I live in the Ukrainian Village landmark district. Do the rules affect my kitchen?
- No. The landmark district reviews exterior facade changes and street-facing windows. Interior cabinet painting, refacing, and refinishing is never subject to landmark review.
- Can you restore the original built-ins in my cottage or flat?
- Yes. Restoring and finishing period built-ins, hutches, and pantries is work we do often, so a refreshed kitchen still feels true to the age and detail of the home.
- What door styles suit a period home here?
- Shaker and Artesia are classics, and the recessed-panel styles like Adobe, Asher, and Connecticut sit especially well with vintage millwork. We help you choose during the design session.
- Can you handle both units in my two-flat?
- Yes. We regularly coordinate multiple units in one building, matching finishes across kitchens and scheduling the work so the building stays livable.
- Can you work while we still live in the home?
- Yes. We seal the kitchen off with plastic and run a negative pressure machine vented outside, so dust and odor stay contained. You keep access to the essentials during the in-home days.
