Cabinet specialists who understand a South Loop kitchen
The South Loop is a mosaic of very different housing, and each pocket asks something different of a kitchen. Printers Row is a run of masonry and timber printing and warehouse buildings from the 1880s through the 1930s, converted into high-ceiling lofts. Dearborn Park was master-planned in stages from the late 1970s into the early 1990s, with inward-facing townhomes and mid- and high-rise condos. Central Station and Museum Park brought new-construction glass-and-masonry high-rises and new townhomes from the 1990s onward. And along Prairie Avenue and Motor Row, a set of landmark mansions and terra-cotta showrooms survives from the neighborhood's earliest eras.
That range means the cabinetry varies by building. Printers Row lofts tend to carry slab and flat-panel doors, often original to the 1980s and 1990s conversions and now showing their age. Dearborn Park townhomes frequently still have their 1980s oak and raised-panel. The Central Station and Museum Park high-rises run to a mix of contemporary and traditional styles. Across all of it, the boxes are usually sound, which makes this painting and refacing territory rather than tear-out territory.
When we take on a South Loop kitchen, whether it is a loft on Dearborn or a high-rise unit at Museum Park, we bring the same in-house finishing and design-first approach, and we handle the logistics your building or association requires, from the certificate of insurance to reserving the freight elevator. We have refaced worn doors into a clean, current style, brought loft cabinetry back to a crisp painted finish, and made an open-plan kitchen the anchor of the room.

What homeowners say after the reveal
Joe the owner is a pleasure to work with. The quoting process is meticulous and he helped me devise solutions and help me update the condo's look while keeping costs reasonable. Any issues from walkthrough is quickly addressed and Brayan from Joe's crew did a good job painting the various parts of the apartment. Will definitely work with them again and recommend Fulton Revival to anyone looking at painting jobs. Give them a call!
Joe and his team at Fulton Revivals were excellent and we are extremely pleased with the interior paint work done throughout our condo. They were professional and timely - communicating to us throughout the project. Joe had the team out quickly after project completion to address minor touch-ups post walk-through. Highly recommend and will utilize Fulton Revivals services for future work.
We recently had our kitchen cabinets refinished by Fulton Revivals. Working with Joe and Krystal was amazing and we couldn’t be happier with the results! They were professional, reliable, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Our cabinets look absolutely beautiful — it’s like we have a brand new kitchen! Their attention to detail and pride in their work truly show. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality craftsmanship and outstanding service.

South Loop questions
Frequently asked
- Do you do cabinet work in South Loop lofts and high-rises?
- Yes, and it is a big part of what we do. Lofts, townhomes, and high-rise condos are all everyday work, and we coordinate building access, provide a certificate of insurance, and add your association as additional insured when required.
- My Printers Row loft has slab cabinets from the conversion. Can you update them?
- Yes. We can paint the existing doors or reface them with brand new doors and drawer fronts in a current style while keeping your boxes, either one giving a clean, factory-smooth finish that suits a loft.
- Do the landmark district rules affect my kitchen?
- No. Printing House Row, Prairie Avenue, and Motor Row are Chicago Landmark districts, but preservation review applies to exterior changes only. Interior cabinet work is never subject to landmark review.
- Should I paint or reface my Dearborn Park townhome cabinets?
- Both are good options. Painting keeps your doors and gives them a new finish, while refacing replaces the doors and drawer fronts and transforms the look. We will give you a straight recommendation at the consultation.
- Can you work while we still live in the unit?
- Yes. We seal the kitchen off with plastic and run a negative pressure machine vented outside, so dust and odor stay contained. You keep access to the essentials during the in-home days.
