Cabinet specialists who understand a Forest Glen kitchen

Forest Glen is Chicago's leafy suburb in the city, a set of neighborhoods with curving streets, mature trees, and larger lots than almost anywhere else on the Northwest Side. The stock spans a wide range. Old Edgebrook dates to 1894, Sauganash was platted from 1912 and built out mostly between 1924 and the 1940s, Edgebrook and Wildwood filled in through the 1950s, and custom teardown-to-new-build homes have layered in from the 1990s onward. Tudor Revival is the signature style, especially the stucco-and-half-timber homes of Sauganash, alongside notably large Chicago brick bungalows, English cottages, Colonial Revivals, brick Georgians, and the big 1890s frame Victorians of Old Edgebrook.

Homes of this caliber were built with better cabinetry, and it shows. Most kitchens here have solid mid-century wood cabinets or the stained cherry and maple raised-panel sets from 1990s and 2000s remodels, along with better-grade oak. These are premium-wood kitchens, which opens up every option we offer: painting the perimeter to a soft white or greige, refinishing the real wood to lose the dated tone while keeping the grain, or refacing tired doors into a clean, current style.

When we walk into a Sauganash Tudor or an Edgebrook bungalow, we are matching the cabinetry to a home with real architectural intent. We have taken ambered cherry and maple back to warm and current, restored painted face-frame work so it reads brand new, and refaced dated raised-panel into Shaker and Artesia that finally suit the house. In a home like this the kitchen is part of the architecture, and it deserves a craftsman who treats it that way.

What homeowners say after the reveal

★★★★★

Joe the owner is a pleasure to work with. The quoting process is meticulous and he helped me devise solutions and help me update the condo's look while keeping costs reasonable. Any issues from walkthrough is quickly addressed and Brayan from Joe's crew did a good job painting the various parts of the apartment. Will definitely work with them again and recommend Fulton Revival to anyone looking at painting jobs. Give them a call!

Forest Glen questions

Frequently asked

Do the historic district rules in Forest Glen affect my cabinet project?
No. Old Edgebrook is a Chicago Landmark district and Sauganash is on the National Register, but preservation review applies to exterior changes only. Interior cabinet painting, refacing, and refinishing is never subject to landmark review.
My kitchen is stained cherry or maple. Should I paint or refinish it?
It depends on whether you want to keep the look of real wood. Refinishing restores or restains the grain and keeps the wood, while painting gives you a solid color like white or greige. We will look at your cabinets and talk through both at the consultation.
Do you handle larger kitchens with islands and built-ins?
Yes. Forest Glen kitchens are often large, and we handle long runs, islands, pantry cabinets, and built-ins as one coordinated project, finishing every piece to the same standard at our shop.
Do you serve Sauganash and Edgebrook specifically?
Yes. We work throughout Forest Glen, including Sauganash, Old Edgebrook, Edgebrook, and Wildwood, and we are comfortable in both the Tudor and bungalow stock that defines the area.
Can you work while we still live in the home?
Yes. We seal the kitchen off with plastic and run a negative pressure machine vented outside, so dust and odor stay contained. You keep access to the essentials during the in-home days.
